I've realised that to write about something close to your heart, you need to be both prepared to lay your cards on the table, and to tear apart the problem in the hope of finding a resolution. I can do this with a lot of things, but there will always be some subjects I either don’t want to face, or am not ready to face. But while I hesitate, I thought I'd blog about the reasons why people keep a journal - or in this case; blog. Perhaps it will motivate me to write about certain things, or even to inspire others to pick up that pen, or type that passage that they should have expressed years ago.
"A journal is a friend that is always there and is always a comfort. It reflects back to me things that I can learn about my world and myself. It represents a private space in my life, a beautiful solitude, the moments before I go to sleep just to stop and note what 'there' is about the day or about my life at the time.- J. Moon
It has enabled me to feel deeper and more established as a person, more in control and more trusting of life. It contributes to my ability to write, and it underlies an interest in creative writing.
In addition, journal writing is similar to counselling. It has been a support and a resource and a means of exploration"
"A journal is also a tool for self-discovery, an aid to concentration, a mirror for the soul, a place to generate and capture ideas, a safety valve for the emotions, a training ground for the writer, and a good friend and confidant"- R. Klug

I keep an 'old school' journal that I write in. It really keeps me sane and motivated....like therapy. :)
