Hair Trial

Phew, it's finally Saturday; I'm so happy! Friday was a crazy end to a crazy week, so I'm glad I'm now able to put my feet up. As you may be aware, I had to go to London for a course. I got to the train station with plenty of time to spare, but there was such a long queue waiting to buy tickets (and a very sleepy ticket seller), so I missed the train by literally 5 seconds; meaning I had to wait another 40 minutes for the later one. I made the most of it by having a bacon sandwich though :)

I was then late into London, and I got lost on Regents Street (if you ever go, I strongly recommend asking someone which way is north and which is south, because for the life of me, I couldn't work it out!) When I eventually got to the venue, the lady on reception directed me to what I am now referring to as the topsy-turvy lift (aka elevator). Topsy-turvy because I pressed the button to go up (six floors; I wasn't about to walk!), and the lift arrived saying "going down". I decided to wait for the one going up, except then I was waiting about 5 minutes for the very same lift to return, again stating "going down". At that point, I figured it was just lying to me, so getting in, it again stated that it was going down; and proceeded to go... up! Needless to say, by the time I got into the training session, I was all flustered and silly looking, ha ha!

Anyway, after my training, I hopped onto the train to go to my dad's, and I had a lovely evening with my now not-so-little brother. But today has been the icing on the cake: I met with the hair stylist to have my wedding hair trial!

Today marks 8 weeks until the wedding. Two months. Speaking to my stepmum today, I realised how many little things there are that still need organising, and no amount of wedding checklists will cover this sort of thing: choosing the chairs for the marquee, choosing the centrepieces, choosing the food for the buffet, choosing the music for the ceremony, getting my new passport organised. My head is boggled!

Anyway, back to the trial - I gave the stylist this image to work from:

And this is the result:

Unfortunately, I'd forgotten my pearl hair jewels that I will be wearing on the wedding day, and I know the photo I took isn't from the side, like in the example; but I hope you can still get the idea.

I do love the style. I wanted to wear my hair down for the wedding, but with the front pulled out of my face. I also wanted something simple and easy to maintain. However, I'm a big fan of curls, and it's not as curly as I would have liked. I mean, of course it's curly, but I mean the curls start about half way down my hair, not at the top like in the example I gave her. And as soon as I got home, it had frizzed up and looked terrible. The stylist hadn't put enough hair spray on, and the £40 I paid for the experience was effectively flushed away. Hmmm. I'm now trying to set an appointment to see my stepmum's hairdresser in a bid to get something better, and something more likely to stay in for more than ten minutes.

Aside from the downside, I like the style. What do you think?

She needs to use hot rollers or sleep on sponge rollers to get the curls to start from the top. Using the curling iron will cause them to start halfway down! I like the style idea, I think she just didn't pull it off quite like the picture or quite like you imagined!!! I hope she will listen to you next time since you know how your hair is =)

I love that hairstyle. I agree though, maybe she needs to use hot rollers, and more hairspray for sure!! Go in there next time, and be firm. It's your big day.
oh, and good job on the bacon sandwich. Food always makes everything better! =)
