A Month of Marriage

Well, we've officially survived one month of married life. It feels weird to say that it's been a calendar month already. Some days it feels like only a fortnight ago, and other days it feels like it was six months ago.

Traditionally, the married couple would drink mead for one calendar month after their wedding, and after this, the honeymoon period would be over.

Looks appetising, doesn't it? I hasten to add that this isn't our kitchen, and this isn't our mead (I hear your relief).

But of course 4th August marks our one month, which means that our honeymoon period is technically over. I might have been a little disappointed about that if I didn't have our Hawaii trip to look forward to at the end of the month. Yet another reason to be untraditional!

A lot has happened to us during the past month; some good and some bad (but mainly good). However, essentially life is much the same as it always was. Part of me expected to feel a little different on becoming a married woman, but I guess I knew we would continue on as we always had done.

The main perk of course is being referred to as a Mrs. In fact that's the only real difference at the moment! But despite feeling no different, I'm happier than I've ever been. We have a lot of things to look forward to, and therefore I have many reasons to be happy.

So here's to our one month, and many more to follow! I am living on the wild side and toasting my achievement with a bottle of Diet Coke and a punnet of cherry tomatoes...
